　　一、独立口语第1题 TASK1：

　　① Imagine that you have to give up watching TV for one month. What would be the most difficult thing for you and why? Please include reasons and examples in your explanation.

　　The most difficult thing for me is missing all those exciting NBA games for one month. In fact, I’m a big fan of basketball, and I’ve been watching NBA games for about 10 years. Believe or not, when I was in the university, my roommates and I would never miss anyone of them. The reason why I love the game so much is that all those players are significantly strong, talented, and persistent. Also, what attracts me the most is the teamwork which is perfectly interpreted by San Antonio Spurs, who’s won several championships by defeating some really amazing teams like Detroit Pistons.

　　② Describe a special gift you’ve given to a friend and explain why it is important. Please include reasons and details to support your response.

　　I’ve given a basketball to my roommate/colleague on his birthday last year. It’s very important to me, because I think giving him a present is a good way to enhance our friendship, which is also beneficial for our cooperation in the company. What’s more, both he and I are really interested in playing basketball. By giving him such a gift, we can keep us informed that we should spare some time to go shoot some hoops every now and then. For example, we’d play basketball every weekend. I think it’s good way to do exercises and keep fit.

　　③What is your favorite place to do exercise outdoors on a nice day and why? Please include details and examples in your explanation.

　　Beach is my favorite place to do exercise on a nice day, because I can feel closer to nature. For example, along the beach of my hometown, Hainan Island, there are various tropical plants like palm and banana trees. Also, the sky is blue and the sea is grand and clean. On top of all these above, beach is the place where I can participate in all kinds of aquatic activities, like swimming, boating, and even snorkeling, which is really exciting and attractive to me. Last but not least, after doing exercises, I can get access to lots of culinary delight, especially the seafood such as lobsters and crabs.

　　④If you had the chance to travel to the moon, would you choose to go and why? Please use examples and reasons to support your answer.

　　If I got this chance, I would definitely say “yes” ! As we all know, before going to the moon, I have to make sure that my body is in a really good situation. In order to do so, I need to do lots of exercises and even get some professional training. So, it’s really a good chance to build a strong body. What’s more, by traveling to the moon, I can get access to those marvelous sights that human beings can only dream about. For example, looking at the earth from an unique angle, I can get a whole picture of this planet. I do believe it’s a brand new experience to find out my country in front of the real planet instead of the map.

　　⑤What would you do to handle too many assignments at a time? Please include specific details and examples in your response.

　　When it comes to many assignments at a time, I prefer to finish one assignment before starting another one, This option can help me to focus on one single thing at a time, which is really crucial for improving the efficiency. Also, I would like to improve my efficiency by cooperating with others. For example, when I was in my university, one of my major missions is to deal with papers. Every time when we got the paper assignment, I would form a study group with my classmates. Normally, we’d divide the task into 3 parts, including searching for information in libraries or online, doing investigation, and revising.

　　⑥What are the advantages and disadvantages of requiring students to evaluate their professors at the end of the semester? Explain why. Please include details and examples in your response.

　　One of the major advantages of asking students to evaluate their professors is that the education quality could be greatly improved. Let me tell you this way. By doing such an evaluation, there could be an invisible competition happening between those professors. And in order to win or fight for their reputation, professors themselves might devote more efforts to their teaching or researching, which is beneficial for enhancing the school’s academic performance. However, the disadvantage of such an action is that the relationship between professors and students might be jeopardized, especially when the evaluation is pretty ugly.

　　二、托福独立口语2题 TASK2：

　　①Some people prefer to spend their free time with a group of friends. Others prefer to spend their free time with just one person at a time. Which do you prefer? Why?

　　Personally, I prefer to spend my spare time with a group of friends, because more people bring more fun and we can figure out many interesting ways to have fun together. For example, we can go to the KTV in the evening, go for a picnic on a nice day, or work out in the gym. Another advantage of spending time with a group is a good way to save money, especially when we are eating in those modern restaurants. As we all know, we can get a really good discount if we choose the group buying. However, staying with one person at a time can be really boring due to the lack of enthusiasm.

　　②Some people prefer to live in different places throughout their lives. Others prefer to stay and live in one place. Which do you prefer and why?

　　I tend to live in different places throughout my life. As we all know, different places hold their own eating habits. For example, people in the southern part of China prefer to eat spicy food like hot pot, but people in the northern part loves dumplings or noodles. So, living in different places offers us a chance to enjoy various culinary delight. Also, living in different places can help to broaden one’s horizon due to different cultures or customs. However, living in the same place for a whole life could be boring, because it’s natural for us to lose interests if we get really familiar with certain things.

　　③Should your government build a library or a park in your community and why?

　　I think that our government should build a park in our community. First, there is a phenomenon that most young adults are working in the workplace to support their families, which leaves these old people at home alone. With a park in our community, these lonely people I just talked about could be given a chance to hang around with their peers. For example, they can chat or play chess together. What’s more, modern park would be equipped with various facilities like fitness equipment, which are beneficial for the old to do exercises to keep healthy.

　　④Some people prefer to spend their vacation in the countryside while others prefer large cities. Which do you prefer and why?

　　Personally, I prefer to spend my vacation time in the countryside. First, compared with big cities, the countryside has less factories, which means less pollution. So, spending vacation there is healthier, and the knowledge of being in a healthy environment can help to revitalize one’s mood and thus improve the quality of vacation. Also, the countryside is a place where we can escape from steels, concretes, and chaos and feel closer to nature. For example, when you visit the countryside, you’ll find green lands, trees, or rivers virtually everywhere. And all these natural factors combined can help to relax ourselves.

　　⑤(A/D) Gifts made by people themselves are more meaningful than those bought from stores? Explain why.

　　I disagree with the statement, and I believe that both those gifts made by people themselves or bought from stores are equally meaningful. First, we cannot deny that people would definitely appreciate their friends’ gesture when they are trying to make gifts by themselves, because only those who care about you would choose to devote their own time, ideas, and efforts to your birthday presents. However, it should also be admitted that people are showing that they treat you as dear friends when they try to buy you a cute toy or a nice cup from the store. From my perspective, all gifts are equally meaningful and important if they are from your buddies.
